Aimless, wandering, and just out of place. For a comparison the long dark is a survival game, ARK is a survival game, the forest is a survival game, hell even H1Z1 is more of a survival game. State of Decay 2 feels like the lumbering enemies that populate its country mountains.

There’s promise in so many systems that it introduces, but they’re woefully underutilized to make space for repetitive activities that are nowhere near as exciting to engage with.

In our State of Decay 2 review, we said, 'State of Decay 2 settles into a rhythm that might be easy for you to pass some hours with, but it’s never a ride with genuine surprises, excitement or purpose. The game also supports cross-play between Windows 10 PC and Xbox One, though it's unclear if the feature will be supported when the game launches on Steam in early 2020. It's worth noting that State of Decay 2 and its Heartland expansion are available through Xbox Game Pass.
